mac spotlight

mac spotlight

i need to know if i can search for new files. i.e the latest file created on the HD using spotlight

any ideas?

Here’s the complete list of date ranges that you can specify:

* date:this month
* date:this week
* date:this year
* date:today
* date:yesterday

* date:tomorrow*
* date:next month*
* date:next week*
* date:next year*

did you try using the command line interface? mdfind, i think. it's kind of a bitch to configure, but you might be able to give it a programmatic date

I think spotlight requires a name, so you can list all files that contain an "a", for instance, and then sort them by date created, but I dont think it will just list all files. Such feartures would be very useful.

i used this. had to find where the mac was storing a large scan preview.

not if you use mdfind.. it takes anything as input, but it has cryptic arguments
