Remember that they couldn't give a shit at the end of the day. The game has to be portable to lower spec machines like the PS2 and xbox, so they have to keep it simple otherwise they have to re-make half the game, and like what happened with SC:CT on PS2, thats just not a good idea at all. The effort far out weighed the cost.seremtan wrote:it looks fucking awful. the BSP geometry is straight out of amateurville, and the models are nothing to shout about
Get your facts straight , GRIN.se is developing the pc version and its based on the Diesel engine 6.0 and is entirly different from the console versions.. they are two different games except from the title and the features.o'dium wrote: The game has to be portable to lower spec machines like the PS2 and xbox, so they have to keep it simple otherwise they have to re-make half the game, and like what happened with SC:CT on PS2, thats just not a good idea at all. So, they make games that are not cutting edge in terms of visuals but still nice. That way the real frame rate hurters (Particles, bloom, local maps, fancy effects) can be just turned off for the lower end machines, while the geometry and polycount remains roughly the same. Texture wise of course they will have to trim down, but thats just a quick batch resize and takes no time at all. A complete level re-write takes time.
Remember, in this business, time is money. They would rather have pooer looking multiple sku's out there than 1 good looking one. It makes more $$$ at the end of the day.

Is different 100% in terms of media, models, textures, everything (Not resampled down, but new). Its even a new engine. Compared to this:
And your saying that the "bloom" in this game, which is clearly visible on the shots, is not in this game. Because its HDR. When clearly HDR and bloom are two different things.
Mate, Im not sure what youve been smoking, but it aint good. Its fucking obvious that the console version is the same base media assets (Read: Media, not engine), with details toned down.
Go back to whatever fucking rock you crawled from, and stop making an ass out of yourself in public.

... those two SS are both from PC version, one is from august 2005 and the other is from february 2006.. AGAIN you just got owned.
Clueless... hahaha!
I have never said that they wont look the same, i have said that they are two different games in feel and look(ofcourse F'agium had to overreact).. first off, the 360 version is Over the shoulder view and first person NO GUN, xbox version is 1st person with weapon(looks crap though, PC is first person with gun.dzjepp wrote:Reef, how can you be so sure the console version dosen't look the same? Every gaming site and mag that has shown previews of this game has shown screenshots with the 360 caption... there's no reason the 360 can't have this game, it looks good but not amazingly good like that unreal 3 game that's coming to 360.
It might look worse resolution wise, but they should be identical in every other way.
