World of Warcrack
Heard it was a good game. Is it more for the quarky nerds who are hunched over mommy and daddys pc, ir is it fairly enjoyable? Heard it very action oriented, not so much attack/wait/attack/wait/potion/wait/spell/wait/attack/wait.
Been looking for something different, thought maybe this would be a good pick up, also, i've never played an mmorpg.
oh, and i'm picking up battlefield 2 shortly :icon14:

I generally try not to get into MMOs this far into their life. There's a ton of stuff to get caught up on and used to. Right now I'm waiting for a few games to get into open beta to try out:
RF Online
Tabula Rasa
The Chronicles of SpellBorn
SpellBorn seems to be the most interesting and innovative, plus I like the art style the most. It looks to borrow from WoW in that department, but I don't mind.

Why must all MMO's use skull images on their web design?Transient wrote: The Chronicles of SpellBorn
I didn't like Guild Wars that much. Its barely an MMO. WoW is pretty amazing. You get the hardcore community seen in games like Everquest but the action is pretty fast paced and intense. I could see you lot getting into the PvP battlegrounds. It's a very very competitive part of the game. One of the battlegrounds is CTF, the other is basically king of the hill, and I've never been to the other one.
I bought Guild Wars first...and hate it. It's basically a single player RPG. It's difficult to find people join you for quests, and that's the only time you see a SINGLE non-computer character outside of town as it enters you in your own instance out in the world. I played it for about a week and realized a month later I hadn't touched it.
So I went out and picked up WoW and have played it almost every single day for the last month.
Sure, it does cost $15/month to play it, but it's worth it, IMO.
I've got some real life friends on there, and have made friends with some cool people in-game who I quest together with. You are constantly in 3-5 man groups at low levels and later on people play in multi-dozen raid groups. It really is a lot of fun. And it really is an action game, the combat is fun and varied.
Plus, that $15/month provides tons of content updates so even people who have had it since it came out a year and a half ago still find new things to do.
I'm currently at level 37, max is 60. It's taken me a month to get there playing on average 1-2 hours/day. I haven't seen about half the world.
Great game, the only one I play right now and I'm not usually an RPG fan, so that's saying a lot.

OK, I've been playing World of Warcraft pretty hardcore since it came out. I've seen everything that's currently in-game. I also recently quit the game altogether mainly because it's a pain to work and play that game. Anyways, here's some of my other gripes:
1. Content: I was a fan of the Warcraft RTS games and I liked the story lines in those games, but you won't find a good continuation of any of those story lines in WoW, especially in the end-game content. Basically, they made up all this other shit for the end-game content that is pretty random. They have some content patches coming out in several months and the expansion pack that I think will expand upon the story lines from the RTS games, but who knows how well. They also roll out a new content patch just once a quarter and usually the month before they would be releasing a new content patch, the game would get really fucking boring.
2. PvP sucks. It's fun to play a few games of whatever Battleground, but beyond that it's boring. Gaining ranks also becomes a grind, which isn't fun. If you play Alliance you can also expect long queue times to get into the Battlegrounds because on most servers there's a population imbalance. The PvP just can't compare to an FPS or RTS.
3. Endgame: Once you get to level 60, if you aren't in a raiding guild, then you won't have shit to do. Yeah, you can PvP in the Battlegrounds, but refer to #2. At level 60, there's just not many more quests to do and everything else there is to do, outside of raiding, is a grind. Raiding also becomes a grind (I had been raiding Molten Core with my guild since fucking March).
Overall, it's definitely a fun game to play up to a certain point. The endgame content and PvP experience is really lacking.

i think for you to like gw you need to like the pvp aspect instead of getting that mmo feel
sure there like nothing to do once you get to lvl20 and beat the main missions except skill capping, I didnt even do all the side quests before getting tired of the story mode.
Its saving grace is the pvp mode which can provide a good 300+ hours of fun if you got a guild to experiment with builds in tombs and gvg in.

Is true..Jackal wrote:Not true.Scarface wrote:hmm, looks like i might check it out. I like the rest option, so i don't have to play every day to be able to still compete
At 60, even in a "hardcore raid guild" you only have to play once or twice a week to gear up..
Raiding dont take forever to epic out your char.. its finding a guild thats hard, which takes nothing if you dont have a bad rep on the server
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.
It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

Your wrong then..Jackal wrote:Thanks for the advice skip but it ain't true. I played WoW from launch up until last october.
If you happen to be in a shitty guild, who only hands out epics for DKP, and DEs everything thats not bought by DKP, then yes.. if you have a guild that gives a shit about itself, then everyone gets geared up..
4-6 hours a week, will gear you out..
