bernie ecclestone will always be inextricably linked in my mind to the first labour govt sleaze (before they moved on to the big boy sleazes like lying to the people and wars of aggression)

That's really a shame, because IMO Spa is one of the only two tracks (the other being Monaco) in the world that truly defines really great drivers. Only the likes of Senna, Prost, Schumacher, et al. could dominate at both Spa and Monaco.

apparently Ecclestone is not happy with the lack of renovations for the track and paddock. he thinks that they won't have these completed by Sept.

That's fine as long as they bring the race back when the renovations are done. But then again, you never know what's gonna happen when you have a fagg0t in charge :icon26:

However, Saturday’s Daily Telegraph reports the FIA as saying it is not taking the claims seriously.

why do i find that not very reassuring?

this is why:
Formula One will be without one of its most prestigious races this year following a decision to withdraw the Belgian Grand Prix from the calendar.

The FIA, Formula One's governing body, said Belgium's national motorsport authority made the decision to give it time to finish track modifications.
