Not only is there not another dollar mentioned for the gulf coast (I guess everything's been fixed, right?) - they're even cutting the Corps of Engineers by 41.3%. :icon27:
Some of the cuts:
Education - 28.5%
Corps of Engineers - 41.3%
HUD - 29.9%
Energy - 1.8%
EPA - 4.9%
Commerce - 2.2%
Also it says that Defense is being cut by 8.7% - but Homeland Security is growing by 9.8%. :icon27:

Here we have republicans saying things like, the budget "represents the president's dedication to fiscal discipline, an efficient federal government and the continuation of a thriving U.S. economy." Just like domestic spying is really "terrorist eavesdropping."
At least somebody is being straightforward about our economic situation:

The smallest pay raise for troops in more than a decade and billions of dollars for expensive weapons programs highlight the proposed 2007 defense budget unveiled Monday by the Bush administration.
The $439 billion budget plan would represent a 7 percent increase over the budget Congress approved for this year.
It includes a 2.2-percent military pay increase, a boost in special operations forces for the Army and Marine Corps, more than $10 billion for new F-22 and F/A-18 fighter jets, $11 billion for new ships for the Navy and $10 billion for the administration’s controversial ballistic missile defense program.
The 2.2 percent raise — tied to a government index of private-sector wage growth — would be the smallest since 1994, and is likely to meet with opposition from some on Capitol Hill.

It's probably because of all the hazardous duty pay and extended TDY pay they are having to pay the troops my wife was making upwards of 60k per year with all the BAS/BAQ + hazardous duty pay all adding up while she was there she was only a Tech Sergeant in the Air Force

I would say that's probably one of MANY things that could be the cause of it.
