How much is a Canon 8 MP SLR w/ 1 GB?

I'm sure there are a couple of different models, but I'm just curious about a ballpark figure.

if you're getting one, get a 20D. If you can't afford a L lens, get a tamron 18-200mm for £250ish.

Buddy just got one. I think its the Rebel XT 350 model. Quite a step up from standard digi-cam. The speed he can take a picture really impressed me. Nearly instant from pressing the button to a pic, unlike most digi-cams.

Btw Fender, doombrain is a moron who knows nothing about lenses. The proof is in a thread about lenses from a while ago where I smashed him.

I'd suggest you get a Rebel XT (350D) and a Canon 50mm f/1.8 II lens for it for starters. Don't get a shitty 28-200mm zoom since its quality will not be anywhere near the Canon lenses I'm mentionning here and at 200mm it will have a ridiculous aperture like f/6.3 or something.

Then if you want a good all around lens, get a Canon 17-40mm f/4 L, since the 350D has a 1.6x crop factor, the 17-40mm will turn into a convenient standart zoom lens with high optical quality.

Oh and make sure you buy a flash, I suggest the Sigma EF 500 DG Super, its inexpensive, I have one and its great.

By the way, when you're choosing a CF card, make sure the one you get is fast. A Sandisk Ultra II is great, it has a 60/66x speed.

lol.. fast card. That nnx speed is a bunch of crap. Just buy one. I got a 4 gig microdrive last night that works about as well as my 1 gig flash cards, it costs about the same and holds 4 times more.

If you're going to spend that much on a 17-40, get spend a little more and get the 24-105 f/4L. The 17-40 as a sole lens is about worthless.

Don't mess around buying crappy kit lenses or 50mm f/1.8 primes. Just spend some money up front on a decent lens that will last you 10 years.

Can someone tell me why toxic suddenly seems so angry and defensive all the time? Not that I don't appreciate the humor, I'm just sayin', is all...

Digital Rangefinder, my friend. Fucking class A for low light and 50mm body shots. I'm doing my second wedding with it later this year.

The 50mm f/1.8 II is a very good lens. Read some reviews before you make a comment like that, but I second the 24-105mm is a great zoom:

Btw, doombrain, any questions? http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/show ... =30&page=2

Oh and to answer Fender's question:

Rebel XT/350D costs about $830 on Amazon right now without the lens. The 24-105 lens is about $1200. You can get the XT w/ kit lens for $899.

It's worth the extra $1200 for a decent lens. Fast, quiet focusing, image stabilizer, good reach, comes with a bag/hood and it will out last the camera body.

I've read them all man. The build quality on that lens is sorely lacking. I don't buy shit I plan on throwing away. That's why I bought the faster 50mm that costs 4x more.

that is a very good point, its all about money. If you can afford a the 50mm f/1.4, the go for it of course, but if your budget is severely limited, then there are some other lesser options.
