I got a SMART drive failure warning
When I boot up the computer it pauses just after the CMOS drive settings check (the black-and-white screen displayed during POST check, when it detects your hard drives/CD-ROM drives before starting to boot Windows). I get a message that says "Warning, SMART has detected that a hard drive failure may be imminent. Please back up your data immediately. Hit F1 to continue." If I hit F1, the computer boots fine.
Uh Oh!
And I smell funny electronic smell from my computer, that I did not usualy detect. It is nothing strong. But just enought to be barely sniffable.
And the day before this, my brother connected another hard drive to the computer. The Hard Drive was in the computer for a fiew months, but not connected, becuse I had some problem booting from it. So I disconected it. And switched the secondary drive to primary.
I am hoping a fresh format will fix this, but I have gigs and gigs worth of stuff on it. I need a new drive.
P.S. I'm uploading the pics for the other post

The question has been answered already, theres no point in locking or moving it IMO.

Re: I got a SMART drive failure warning
I'm reading 2001 A Space Odyssey at the moment, so this gave me a wee chuckle. If there is a Frank Poole living in your zip code, invite him over to inspect your computer and then laugh uncontrollably. He won't get it, but Frank never does. **THWAP**Turbine wrote:"Warning, SMART has detected that a hard drive failure may be imminent..."
read more toxicbug threads and you'll get the jokeCaptain Mazda wrote:Math class never taught me electronics and information technology, but ToxicPug is still a dumbshit.MKJ wrote:so is your math classToxicBug wrote:T&T is down the hall to the left.
