WoW could require many kwh of electricity, depending on how much you play. I have a cool little device that tells me exactly how much electricity I'm using. My current computer saps up 160 Watts when running. That's .16 kw per hour. So after about 6 hours it's used up 1 kwh.bitWISE wrote:WoW wouldn't require a kwh worth of electric. It'd be $20/month.
But... electricity rates are now up 33% over last month (fuck you PG&E). This would bring it up to $26. Still quit a load of cash to put into it.
ATI takes back the performance lead
yea i've too been kind of thinking about maybe a new sig but sort of haven't come to quite a decision yet

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.
I am now sick.

The device is well worth it if you're trying to single out those devices that are really drinking you electricity.

Just turn it off when you're idling your computer, saves a lot.
But its on "enery save" mode..

The cool thing about that device is you can leave it plugged in and it will keep a running tally of the total amount of kwh a device has used. This is necessary for appliances like refrigerators, which only turns its compressor on a couple of minutes at a time.

just to set the record straight.
an x1900xtx uses 136W idle, 311W load.
x1900xtx crossfire 160W idle, 440W load.
for comparisons sake, 7800gtx 512 uses 136W idle, 320W load. dunno about sli but i magine it's up around 460W load.

I mean, really?
I leave my house plenty, point is, why do people even turn off their PCs?
