Newegg

Post by Kills On Site »

I've noticed newegg has moved to this "guided search" thing and I think it sucks. I move back to the "Advanced Catagory Search" but it is much more crude then it used to be. Anyone else notice this, or is there a bad cookie on my computer or something. Usually most of newegg's changes are improvements, but this is just crappy.

I kinda like it. You can filter cards by interface, connections, and practically any feature out there, including bus speeds and bandwidths, etc.

Newegg's shipping rates no longer make them competitive, so I've stopped looking at their site.

they pissed me off when they switched their primary carrier from Fedex to UPS.
then jacked the rates on the fedex shipping to make them uncompetative.
'tis a shame, because the ups guy around here has about 5 IQ points over legally retarded, but the fedex guy is pretty cool.
so i've been avoiding newegg recently myself... just grabbing whoever froogle says is the cheapest that has fedex at a resonable price.

I compare prices on certain items like sound cards or video cards with Pricewatch, Froogle and Anadtech's pricing guide.

Cases: Amamax and Dealsonic - Only for < $50 cases
Motherboard/CPU: Monarch Computer - Lots of deals thoughout the year and comes assembled
Hard Drives: Fry's Outpost - Rebates
Memory: Fry's Outpost - Rebates

I just ordered a video card from zipzoomfly. I'm getting it shipped 2-Day Fedex for free. Sorry Newegg, I might be doing a lot less business with you from now on.
yea i've too been kind of thinking about maybe a new sig but sort of haven't come to quite a decision yet

i picked up a lot of my stuff for the last pc from zipzoomfly.

it seems like a lot of places kind of copied newegg's style.

Zipzoomfly and newegg are pretty much the only 2 places I'll order from online. If I can find something in town, I'm usually willing to pay more in order to buy it from a local place simply for convenience.

That and the fact that they have so many warehouses most people have to pay tax on their purchase.

http://www.zipzoomfly.com and their free 2nd day shipping now pwnes them for most purchases;)

Well the Guided Search is gone, back to what it was before. So apparently not many people liked it. Now if the FedEx Express Saver would go back to the prices it should be I would be very happy, I don't mind the offering of UPS, but the FedEx Express Saver about doubled. At first it was a few pennies more, so I thought I would use FedEx for anything fragile or expensive and UPS for less important items that you buy as need be. So hopefully FedEx rates will return to normal.

ive been looking for the Netgear WG311 Wireless Adapter and buy.com had the lowest at 29.99 with free shipping. Newegg was 29.50 + 1.99 shipping.
