that actually looks silent hillish.
too bad they gave it an actual location though - west verginia.

the movie supposedly has very little dialogue to emphasize the loneliness found in the games. wonder if that still holds true..

Allow me to be the voice of pessimism for a second. Have any of these game-turned-movies done well? I don't think any did great, and haven't we all thought 'meh' over tomb raider, resident evil, doom3? What's the betting that by the time this one is out, lots of people here will be saying ' it was ok I suppose'.

probably will - but this is the first one where the trailer has actually looked promising.

like 4days said, this is the first movie where the trailer looked good.
also, its not a hollywood production so theres no OMG BANG BOOOM crap in there for the dumb masses.
Konami is also is great QC, which means they nix anything that doesnt suit them. the music is also done by the same composer, and Christophe Gans is an avid Silent Hill player (SH2 being his favorite). the directors of the other game2movie movies usually just play the demo or even worse let someone else explain bits n pieces.

my hopes were high, but i suspected a meh trailer. then the trailer turns out to own on pretty much every level.
i mean, PH looks like PH, the nurses are in and done very good. the shot where the room changes into a hellish version of itself looks like its straight out of Silent Hill 3, with the camera panning and the lighting et al.
theres the siren, hell even the mountainroad in Toluca (where she sees the welcome to SH sign) looks exacty the same as in the game.

[edit] ofcourse the problem now is that a lot of people will go out and see it as "another game to movie" and will simply look at it with a pessimistic mindset, which will result in a lot of people spouting "boo". then there are the hardcore fanboys (read: closeminded cocks) who are expecting it to be EXACTLY like the game and will go "omg they changed the main char to a chick and the second car on that street corner is supposed to be blue omgrofl worst movie ever lololol".

but for the moment, im happy :icon32:

Looks like it could be pretty good.

If I were to nominate anyone to direct and write a Silent Hill film it would be David Lynch. His style would fit perfectly into the Silent Hill mystery and horror.

MOTHERFUCKING PYRAMID HEAD! YES!!!

I will see this film fucking opening night.

Also, I can see why the production company decided to keep a female protagonist instead of a male. Which male actor can you imagine playing that role? Tom Cruise? pffft....

I'm very satisfied with the trailer.

meh, I the more i saw of the trailer, the less and less impressed I was. I liked the small one better. Looks to me like it'll be an average horror movie with built up jump scenes that'll be just as predictable as in every movie. Also, is anyone else sick of all these movies/games with little girls? I'm sick of evil little girls.

I miss horror movies. I think i overloaded in the 80-90's. They all seem so absurd, unscarey and boring now. Completely uninteresting. The plots all go to a place i have already been.

its a jap thing. pretty much every jap horror story revolves around ghosts and little girls

luckily, the girl in the game isnt scary. she isnt even there, you see her like 3 times. same goes for the girl in sh2. so yay
