Fucking dutch cunts

Post by Eraser »

A number of publishers tend to include a Dutch translation with their games here in the Netherlands. Electronic Arts do this sometimes and Ubisoft does it as well.

So, this weekend I bought Beyond Good & Evil after hearing all the good things about it. It was only €15 so the price didn't bother me. On the box it said (in dutch) "Game and manual in French and Dutch (english optional)". So I start the game and am presented with a language selection screen, and behold, there's only choice between French and Dutch.

Now the entire game is in Dutch. Now I have nothing against games in Dutch per se, it's just that every single Dutch voice-over ever done for any game is utterly horrid. With Beyond Good & Evil it's even so bad that it totally distracts from the game. A real, real shame.

Officially I can't return the game anymore, but I'll get my money back even if I'd have to ram the box up their ass for it.

Eraser, I hate it when they do that.
I just use eMule to get my games and if I like them I don't buy them.

Well I have the game on the PC as well, in English, but it showed so many glitches (most notably entire conversations not playing at all) and the controls were so daft that I never bothered really playing it.

Everyone in Holland should just speak English from now on, make things a lot simpler.

Most (young) people do speak English well enough to do some basic communication with most English speaking people, that's a good thing IMO. I think that everybody should be able to speak english and that when people from different nationalities communicate and one doesn't speak the other's language, they should always be able to fall back to english.

Get the french to accept that though :icon7:

i have it for the Xbox, and it has like 6 different languages in there, including English (like its supposed to be). the manual specifically states how to turn on "dutch mode" though, none of the other languages are discussed. weird eh

Yes I knew loads of Dutch people speak English. You get the BBC as well, don't you? There's always loads of Dutchees for the TV darts matches.

Eraser is right, dutch is a horrid language.

Stick to english and you'll be fine.
