The Canadian Federal Election
is one week from today. a new poll out today suggests the Conservatives are on the verge of a parliamentary majority (five years of rule).
Fucking hell. Canadians in general are very liberal, but the mainstream party they support is corrupt and scandal ridden.
Oh well, come to think of it, they aren't much different from each other anyway. Except we'll be in every Iraq, galactic space missile plasma defense shield program dealy going. And the gays will be crushed.

Well theres no chance for the Green party or the NDP and if the Liberals did by some chance get in, it would probably be as another minority (which means we'd be going through this bs again in short order).Jackal wrote:You can't say for sure that it will be conservative. The polls seem to indicate that but you have to remember that the polls only reflect those who take part in polls.
I don't think so. Any party that tried to topple the govt with another non-confidence motion in the next year would draw the ire of the general population, and that's not something any party wants.Tormentius wrote:Well theres no chance for the Green party or the NDP and if the Liberals did by some chance get in, it would probably be as another minority (which means we'd be going through this bs again in short order).Jackal wrote:You can't say for sure that it will be conservative. I’m probably voting Liberal, but I want to support the NDP. However the last thing I want is a conservative government.
Stephen Harper wants to withdraw/ignore Kyoto, join the useless missile defense, allow health privatization, he’s anti gay marriage, anti-abortion, religious, ignorant and racist toward immigrants and I hear he’s also a big prick in general. I have a feeling he’ll jump on any new war US proposes. He also criticized the Canadian government for not supporting the Iraq war and if it was up to him we would have been in Iraq right now.
The Liberals on the other hand make too many promises under-deliver, hide surpluses so they can spend them later, have numerous scandals, have allowed private health care to spread and supposedly support public health care while Paul Martin uses a private clinic. However they are the lesser evil and have kept 8 balanced budgets, so not all that bad.
Too bad NDP has no chance, reformed marijuana laws, no health care privatization, better social services would have been nice.

still have'nt decided who yet. i want to vote liberal but i can't. regardless if the other choices are shit, i think it would be shittier to re-elect the liberals after all the money they have thrown away or stolen.
i'm leaning towards ndp because they have a really good grasp of the issues in my region.
