New GTA rumoured to be set in London

As the thread points out the story is incorrect in that Rockstar North is in Edinburgh, not Glasgow. Not sure whether this invalidates the rumour or whether this is disinformation was just tacked on.

Either way, I always saw GTA games as relying on the concept of getting to play out your gangster movie inspired dreams.

So the environments generally have that film look about them, which London just doesn't.

I never played the London 1969 addon for GTA but I got the impression it was playing off the wacky swinging 60s London image popularised by Austin Powers.

But London 1997? It doesn't exactly conjur up a lot of images does it?

Getaway covers london pretty well, I think they should make one in Japan or Russia.

actrually, there have been 15 million rumours floating about, even that it will be set in amsterdam or tokyo.
not very likely that they would go from en antire state to just 1 city.
PSM had a more interesting approach though, 6 european cities in 1 game, slated for ps3 launch

london in 97 was fucking fantastic, apart from the traffic - unless the new gta is about pilling, dancing and fucking it's going to suck.

that european cities thing sounds like it could be cool.
