This thread isn't about my country, it's about yours. It sounds to me like you think that since my government is supposedly worse than yours, you can feel better about yourself. It doesn't work that way. How you can say something as feeble and "you can't criticize us because your government is worse" is beyond comprehension. We (i.e. "you") had nothing to do with creating American culture. Also, yours does not go back "thousands" of years; it goes back only as far as your various governments have needed to go in order to find enough commonalities between various ethnicities that they could construct an identity of being "British" that a majority of Inselaffen could follow... It's one of the tenets of nationalism.

You just happened to buy their crap hook, line and sinker. But don't feel bad, it happens to everyone. I bet you have more in common culturally with the Fab Four than you have with Henry V or some long dead cultural figure. Your culture is not the sum of its parts. Just because you can trace your ancestry back millenia, doesn't mean you have your ancestors' culture.
