New ET:QW screens and info... Your gonna love this...
Shh. Unless they are going to open up the engine completely to the mod teams I dont think we want that yet.riddla wrote:game looks badass, raven should just give up on Q4 and admit massive failure for MP.
EDIT: That said, that interview is pretty good, I can only hope its successful.

Open up the engine if they arent going to continue, or start I should say, patching it? Because there are flaws in the game that apparently are not able to be fixed with a mod and need engine access?DooMer wrote:why should they do that?
Or are you talking to riddla on his comment that raven should quit on us... :icon28:

Read iddevnet. They are working on a major patch already but these things take time and effort.jester! wrote:

Yeah i know, they have been saying it for months. Talk is cheap, till they start making changelog posts or something they have done nothing. :icon26:
If they fix the sound to the quality of Q3 I will sing their praises all over the web, but these beta patches have been near useless, an unfinished mod adds more to the game then these patches by leaps and bounds. ANY MOD xbm, q4w, q4max, gankmod, whatever has done way more for free. :icon32:

I think it's a shame that a major patch couldn't be released for Q4 before the mod teams started working on it - but knowing id, I'm hopeful that it will fix all the really important issues that people have problems with. They've been working on it for months, and it's standard operating procedure for id not to make announcements of every detail they are working through. They'll release it and I think it will be, for the most part, just what we all want.
That said, this ET:QW is looking better and better every time I see something about it. And I LOVE hearing things like this:
And the screenshots are fucking great. I can't wait for this game.

Massive gameplay testing is the absolute best way to handle balancing and gameplay issues.Wolfenstein had about 11,000 QA hours at Activision to balance the game and make it work. With Quake Wars we're probably going to have to use the same kind of heuristic evaluation method or approach of having two teams fighting each other and then balancing things like power bar usage or spawn times and just gut feeling about how games are playing - how they're working just through a massive amount of play testing rather then being able to do any straightforward damage over time calculations.
And the screenshots are fucking great. I can't wait for this game.

This game involves three companies so I would imagine the release of information requires a lot more approval than it would if just one company was putting it out. They've said they are working on it, so just wait.jester! wrote: Talk is cheap, till they start making changelog posts or something they have done nothing. :icon26:

What do you think everyone is doing? Im fully aware of the situations at hand as we have talked about this before. All I said was that if they werent going to support the game, which I know they are to a degree, that they should open up the engine so the community can finish the game for them, is that wrong?Tormentius wrote:This game involves three companies so I would imagine the release of information requires a lot more approval than it would if just one company was putting it out.
