You might have cut a few bucks off the price.
:olo:

to much psu?

:olo:
WTF are you laughing at? He said he was trying to build a cheap computer. The specs he listed wouldn't come near to needing a 480watt PSU. Since a 300watt PSU would be cheaper, I made the suggestion of too much PSU.
Depends

A) Where you shop
B) If it was laying around anyways
C) If it came with the case

You can NEVER have to much psu, and ploping a slightly bigger one in for a whole 3 or 4 dollars more isnt the worst idea in the world..

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

A) If you're shopping around. You'll always find a cheaper, less wattage PSU.

B) He didn't say it was laying around.

C) He could have bought a cheaper case/PSU combo.

You can have too much PSU when you don't or never will need the extra power. If you're spending two or three more dollars on the PSU, why not spend a few more dollars on the memory and a few more dollars on a drive? I'll tell you why. BECUASE YOU'RE TRYING TO SAVE MONEY. Which is quite the opposite of spending a few more dollars on something. Besides, he's not building the PC for himself. He's building it for some shlub that dosen't know much or need much.

So, when the "shlub" goes "ohh this looks pretty" and starts adding lights and shit? or adding dvd burners, ect?

Its not bad to have the power, he can reuse that case and PSU later and save money taht way.. ;)
