Need For Speed: Most Wanted on PC
Need For Speed: Most Wanted on PC
I've never been big on playing racing games on the PC. They're the type of games that just seem better on the couch, with a console controller in your hand and a big television screen 10 feet in front of you.
That being said, I recently bought NFS:MW for the PC for two reasons - I got it for about 5 bucks, and I have a nice shiny 20-inch widescreen LCD that's still in need of plenty of rigorous testing. :icon32:
Man, playing this with my Logitech USB controller is about 20 times as fun as any racing game I've ever played on any console. It's seriously un-fucking-believeable. The controls respond perfectly, the chases are fun as hell - especially running into police - and if you slow down long enough to see them, the graphics are just fucking wonderful.
I don't know how this game looks on the xBox 360 on a television, but I have a hard time believing it looks as good as it does on my new-and-improved rig from the comfort of my office chair. If you like racing games, it's not miles above and beyond all the others, just an improvement over what was already out there, but it's worth picking up.
Does anybody else enjoy racing games? Especially on the PC?
What are some others with nice graphics that I should look for now that I'm hooked?
Are there any really good rally games?

Yeah it's a pretty good game, but it got a little boring. I'm about 40% done but I haven't touched it for at least a week now.
There was also Need for Speed: Underground 1 & 2, they similar to Most Wanted but probally not as good. No police there, just racing.
Don't know any other recent good racing games.

I'm #2 on the Blacklist, playing it on my Xbox. The game rocks, except for some stupid shit that occasionally happens in chases. Last night I had my front wheels stuck on a police cruiser, and the "busted" bar wasn't filling up as long as I was on the throttle. But, I couldn't get off the cruiser, and as soon as I hit reverse I was busted. Gay.
Awesome game, though.

if you want a *real* racing game for the pc, go get GTR.
Live For Speed (aka 'LFS') is also very good.
Richard Burns Rally and Collin Mcrae Rally are the best PC rally games.
(CMR is my personal favorite, the 3rd one kinda sucked though)
be warned, real pc racing games aren't what you're used to... they're more sim than anything in the console world. So you won't get 1/10th of the possible fun without a wheel.

Those are actualy the best flame decals I have ever seen on a car.
Normally they look seriously cheesy, but these are amazing. And what happened to all those cars on the streets about 5 years ago with neon light under the belly?
I don't see any now.

well that the game is more fun that any game you ever played on console has nothing to do that its on pc. at best, it just means you played some shitty console racers
waits for someone to bust out "yea but on pc you can have 23738302x23872349832 res". right after saying "gameplay > gfx"

I have a better performing rig than any console I've ever played.
Gameplay's exactly the same as on console, but everything in the game looks better and runs better, which makes the game better overall.
Plus I'm playing it on a kickass monitor from the comfort of my office chair - as opposed to sitting 12 feet away from a crappy tv that makes objects on the horizon hard to make out.
The television is probably the biggest reason I don't enjoy racing games on consoles - with the exception of games like MarioKart, because the cartoon-like style makes things easy to see.

well you call it a crappy tv. is that the consoles fault or your own? at least compare the equivalents. or something
i dont know. i dont care actually
i just found it odd to favor NFS on pc over [enter racing game here] on console :icon32:

this from the moron who thought GUN was a good game?...
a defining attribute of a government is that it has a monopoly on the legitimate exercise of violence...
GUN was a fun game when I started it - I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay and storyline.
Unfortunately, I played nearly all the way through it before I realized how many tons of side missions there are to complete.
I'm at the last boss now and I've only finished like 30% of the side missions and upgrades. I haven't played it in a couple weeks because I can't get excited about stalking the grey wolf with a bow and collecting 30 bounties so I can upgrade my stuff enough to beat it.
They made the side missions seem optional throughout the game, until the very end where you realize you're screwed if you didn't get them.
I still think it was a blast to play through the story though.
