yes you do? you have never formatted? try it, you will find that if you format, then install everything you had on there before the format, it will be faster, because it is like defragging, but isntead of just moving things, you wipe the slate clean and start over...without all the deletions...

no, it's just decreased slow enough for you to not notice it, I usually notice when windows takes 30 seconds longer to boot and such, esp with big programs opening, just try it ffs, that and you get a nice clean feeling!

Mine is 1 generation old, I don't have any dual core shit...

You don't need to have a dual core to be current generation. Most gamers/people don't use dual cores because, well, they aren't necesary. Most games don't even support dual cores. Sure you can play them, but I don't think you'll get any advantage out of it with most games.

I use photoshop and premeire and imageready and divx more then I do games...
