Getting a new guitar tomorrow....someone who works in the same building as me is selling his Gibson Epiphone SG.
I'm grabbin it with an amp and a small effects box that he's also selling, all for 245 euros
I probably wont use the effects box cuz i got a gnx4, or the amp since i just use my speakers, but I am really looking forward to getting this guitar. Only bad thing is that it's a bright lime green... a complete opposite of my black and white stratocaster.
I'll post pics as soon as I get it.......any one wants to post pics of their axe please do
edit:
oh yeah...pics of my strat to start it off

Cool. Pretty cheap considering what you're getting. What amp is it? Been thinking about a new effects box myself tbh, but I haven't had enough free time lately to go try them all out at the store.
I'll post pics as soon as I find someone willing to host it.
I've got a PRS custom 24. I had a Jackson but since I'm not playing live any more I sold it. Who needs a Jackson when you have a PRS?
Damn MaCaBr3, you're even doing all the down picking like James in the early days. Personally I've never felt the down picking was for anything but showing off. I was always able to make the riffs sound like Metallica picking back and forth. What are you using for distortion? It's very digital souding. Have you tried the Line 6 POD? It's SMOOTH.

Don't forgot my mic is fucking crap, the distortion comes from a Peavey Bandit 112. It sound very nice normally.
I have no id why I down pick man, I just learned it that way, I could play them all alternated, but it feels unnaturaly to me then. Just a habbit of playing imo.
Oh I wasn't saying it's bad you're down picking. That's the style. Ever watch Hetfield play those riffs back in the day? It was all down picking. It's bad ass man, don't change a bit.
I've got a bandit 112, I thought that distortion sounded familar. Do you have the Shetfield or Scorpion speaker? It sounded like the Scorpion... am I right? Yeah I hate that amp haha. Only reason I keep it around is because if I use my POD through the effects loop on the bandit it's nothing more than an amplifier and speaker, sounds great then. But I never use the distortion on it.

I've got a red american strat that i like, but i really want to change the pickups and electronics in it because they sound almost tinny to me.
my amp is a shitty peavey. it's big and loud, but i can't get a good sound out of it to save my life. although, the pickups probably have a little to do with that as well.
i started out with an epiphone myself, but it was strat copy instead of an SG.
my roommate has an SG, and i looooooooove playing that thing. the action isn't as good as my strat, but it frets like a stick of butter.
It's not even worth changing out the electronics on a strat. They're so cheap you might as well sell the one you have and buy a new one. Go to the music store and play guitars until you find one with good tone. That's the easiest way to get a guitar you'll be happy with. Changing electronics is a pain in the ass.

The first one is of a couple of the guitars I have set up in my control room. The guitar on the left is the PRS Custom 24 fret. the middle one is my bass guitar, Ibanez. The one on the far right is a friend's VERY old Carvin bass.
The second one is of my work station. The desk is temporary until I build in a counter style console. You can kind of see where I work when I'm making my music.

I started out on one of the early Squires. I though it was great until I dropped it and found out it was made of chipboard. Then I played an Ibanez and the rest was history....
Wow we've got ourselves a real group of musicians here! Very cool. I'm among friends then. I'll refrain from posting more pictures... I don't wanna make you guys feel bad. hehe.

How about some samples of your playing? That looks like a nice setup.
