In the past week, I got my bosses completely piss scared that I was gonna leave the company simply by telling them I had them as references on my resumé and that they should say good things about me if someone calls, rejecting their first offer to keep me, and then getting them to agree on something which I felt was more suitable (which includes a higher role with more responsibility, 500 shares in the company [essentially worthless], 60% increase in pay, as well as the potential for overseas travel to trade shows and whatnot).
All this based on the quality of work I do.
But seriously speaking, this job has been such a MASSIVE learning experience. I came into the security surveillance industry knowing basically jackshit about it. I've grown so much both from a technical/programming point of view by working with some real class acts here, as well as the amount of domain knowledge I've acquired. I've made some real tight contacts amongst higher ranks than my own at some of our partners. At the same time it's been real humbling. My first job out of uni, so I gave it my absolute hardest in the first year.
It's a great feeling knowing how desirable you are to keep around and specially in the long term. Anyways, I'm well chuffed right now
