vrrooooom
that was awesome. a shame they're stopping production on the nsx though. i had high hopes of owning one some day.
oh and i'll join in on the challenge. i might fire up the ps2 really quick and pull a few laps with a stock nsx to see how i compare to you guys before i go to work...
but yeah it could be something as simple as each week a new challange is presented and you have that week to accomplish it before next week.

Dude, JC is no racing driver, even by his own admission. You can tell just by the way he sits in the car (a bit too far back IMO). He's not very smooth either, oversteering way too much at times, which would definitely hurt his laptimes big time. He's probably not even driving with proper racing techniques. Real racing is a lot different than doing a bunch of doughnuts/burnouts on an empty airstrip you know.o'dium wrote:In other words, GT4 is NOTHING like real Life. Which is known.
GT4 is wank. Nothing has changed since GT2...
Also, not only he's playing the game with the controller, he's using the buttons. He should at least be using the analog sticks. I wonder if he's ever tried the game with the DFP wheel. I've played the game using both the controller and the DFP wheel, and I can tell you that using the wheel feels more realistic (and not just because it's a wheel). The controller is naturally less precise and under certain circumstances makes the game much easier to play (e.g., when you need to counter steer very quickly).
Last but not least, JC never mention what setup or tires he's using in the game, which would have a big impact on how realistic of a laptime one ought to be able to get. GT4 may not be very realistic, but you can more or less set the car up so that you can turn relatively realistic laptimes.
Here'a an article written by JC on GT4:

Here's an article written by an Australian journalist of his experience driving on the real Nordschleife after driving it in GT4:

Just finished watching the whole episode, which I thought was very good. The only downside to it was that I didn't see any really hot-looking chicks in the audience
Anyway, I'm generally not a 4WD fan, but that VW Golf R32 is quite impressive. Too bad I don't think it's available in the States. And yes, JC's fastest laptime in the NSX was a 1:57 :icon13:
and ofcourse you are the expert, since you handle a plethora of exotic and regular cars on a daily basiso'dium wrote:In other words, GT4 is NOTHING like real Life. Which is known.

yes it is
you can get the r32 here in the states. they arent extraordinary or anything though. a friend of mine has eaten a few up in his wrx even when it was stock...though a lot of that could be up to driver ability as he's a seriously fucking good driver.zewulf wrote:Just finished watching the whole episode, which I thought was very good. Re: yes it is
I'll take your word for it, but I don't see the R32 on VW's US website. Which version of WRX is your friend's? If it's the STI, then it's got significantly more BHP than the R32, and it's turbocharged.Grandpa Stu wrote:you can get the r32 here in the states. they arent extraordinary or anything though. a friend of mine has eaten a few up in his wrx even when it was stock...though a lot of that could be up to driver ability as he's a seriously fucking good driver.

yar
my friend used to have just the base wrx. 2.0 liter turbocharged bla bla bla. there's an r32 that parks in the driveway of a house that's on the way to skyline (mountainous road in my area) so mebe if i head up there any time soon i'll take a pic or whatever.
my friend doesnt have his wrx anymore, he got one of those new cobalt ss things. it's pretty quick but nothing like he had his wrx up to. i got lucky and was able to buy his intake, boost controller and BOV for 200 bucks. i'm amazed at how much faster mine is now, i had no idea...and that BOV just sounds seksi.
