I remember using crushFTP, but its more of an FTP server than a client. There are a plethora of them on versiontracker and macupdate...

See "man ftp" from a terminal!
Edit: FWIW, the Finder will mount ftp volumes...

You can also do Finder
Go
Connect To Server and enter
ftp://x.x.x.x as the server name. Canis was trying to explain the same. Try click one of the ftp URLs on this page (
http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html ) and you'll find it should mount the volume on your desktop.
