I know I'm too old for all the gifty stuff but I get into it because I love to get people stuff I know they'll love and I like to wrap all the presents all pretty w/ bows and shit.

But the cool part is sitting in front of the fire, drinking hot apple cider, watching Chrstmas movies, baking cookies, lighting the menora, y'know...the whole holiday atmosphere....

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot to add my new favorite activity: Trying to stick bows on my cats. Funny, to say the least!

same here. i always tell everyone "if you're going to buy me a gift, don't, and buy some poor kid that has nothing or very little, something instead" this has worked very well for over 10 years now.

most of my close friends and family do. i tell them if they're unsure of what to buy or where to send/take it, i direct them to the Arizona Children's Association or the Children's Hospital if they live here, or their local non-profit agency for kids.

thanks. Holidays should be one of a kid's best time of the year, nevermind the adults' passing around gifts to each other. really, if want something, i generally just go buy it anyway. seeing a kid's face light up on Christmas morning is what it's all about.

I'd be pissed if one of my family members told me that. I'd be like "Well fuck you too buddy, I didn't want to buy you anything anyway."

It's a good thought though.

I'm going to work at a shelter Christmas Eve this year, never done that before but I really wanted to.
The holidays are such a happy time, but thinking about people who have it so bad that holidays are just another day, it makes me feel pretty crummy.
