Umm, Woodward had a conversation with government officials about the Plame leak two years ago, and has been hiding it the whole time until a couple weeks ago.
Not to mention Bush gave him inside access to the White House to write about him.

I think it's safe to say we can write off Woodward as any kind of symbol of free and independent journalism.
