Here's that nailgun video from FEAR..if you've never seen it

If you've never played the game, you might get a kick out of this weapon. Watch what it does when you hit the guy with it near a wall.

My movements are a bit jerky and slow, I am trying to hit the record button, the slow mo button, and turn on my flashlight, and accidentally hit the zoom at the same time...

Used FRAPS to make this.

(6.7 mb)

MPEG-4 encoded with VirtualDub. But for some reason it only played for me on my laptop when i installed fraps.
Thanks scourge for hosting.

Your welcome. Heh, pretty cool vid. Played the demo a bit, but haven't gotten the game yet. Kinda reminds me of the stake gun in Painkiller but on a smaller scale. Btw, the stake gun was one of my favorites from PK.

edit: Played just fine for me in WMP. No fraps installed.

LOL, shot him in the head 4-odd times with a giant spike, then when he was stuck to the wall, shot him in the groin for good measure. :p

i'm running it at 1024x768 with everything maxxed (including fsaa and anisotropic) on my bfg 6800 gt oc. It was going along fine until late into interval 8 when i started getting into big firefights in the streets/alleys - that is really kicking my machines ass at these settings. But even with the details bumped way down, the game still plays great in the firefights. Definitely not as good as HL2 in terms of variety of gameplay, but the firefights are fun. I quicksave before each one and then try different strategies for going through them...one of my current favorites is to lob a grenade towards a group of guys, hit slow mo, then shoot the grenade with the shotgun while it is in the air.

tnf, it warms my heart to occasionally be reminded that you do indeed have a twisted side.

And let me get this straight - you showed this to your STUDENTS?!?!?

FEAR fucking rocks.

And guess what, its only twenty squids right now as well, bargain.

PICK UP PICK UP.

Thats how the nailgun in Q4 should of been TBH, would of been sooooooooo much more better.

What would you rather have though?

I know its not realistic as such, but imagine if as soon as you shot him, hes down, or him you shot his chet, he fell over, didn't quite die and just lay there screaming...

How easy would that be?

Or how hard, because you too would have the same problem, they could shoot you. One bullet, down.

Maybe if the game was centered around that sort of thing, but how are you supposed to tackle all thes monsters and shit and only survive one bullet :p

A lot of the guys will shoot after they are dead...like their finger stuck on the trigger or something...dunno how realistic it is, but it makes for a unique experience because you can still get hit by the random spamming of bullets.

Even better kills than this are the ones where you slow mo kill a guy with the shotgun, and split him right in half at the waist. His upper body flies off, spinning around, while the gun is shooting...

lol

Nice vid.

The combat in F.E.A.R. is fucking awesome, intense and cinematic all at the same time.

Monolith has been making great games for years...and have a terrific engine...yet never gets the recognition that id gets. It makes no sense to me.

I thought their engines always sucked. I haven't played the new one but it does look awesome.
