doctors: pertussis advice?

I'm not looking for a diagnosis here, I just have some questions.

A co-worker was diagnosed with pertussis last week (probably had it for at least a week before). He's one of the PI's in my lab, so he interacts with a lot of the people I'm around daily, and I interact with his wife (and with him, to a smaller extent).

On Saturday, I'm planning to go to a x-mas party at their house. Frankly, I'd rather not get whooping cough over the holidays. I know it's pretty contagious, but is it probable that I'd get it after he's been infected for a couple weeks? It's probably been more than 10 years since my last DPT shot, so the memory response is most likely gone...
but still...
any thoughts? Should I be an antisocial dick and boycott the party? Or should I assume that it's unlikely that I'll catch it and go make out with his wife as I originally planned?

Yeah, I already thought about that, but I haven't seen either of them all week. I think they might be staying home from work, which would be really stupid of them to still have the party.

I just assumed it would be cancelled, but everyone else still seems to be planning to go (I think some are even taking their kids.

).

It makes me wonder if they know something I don't know. That's why I wanted to see what the docs thought...
