107 year old WWI vet from England.

There was an interesting article about Harry Patch in the Bath Chronicle (my uncle sends me his local paper from England). I've seen him on the history channel a couple of times, and I think he is just amazing. Born in 1898, he was conscripted into the war at the age of 18. He was in Passchendaele and the Third Battle of Ypres (which claimed more than 70,000 soldiers in 3 months). He was hit by shrapnel and lost his 3 closest friends. What really touches me when I read stuff like this, is how close these guys were among each other. I felt sad just reading the article. Patch mentions the lasting effects of the war when he says: "When I'm lying in bed at night and someone switches on the light outside my room, if I'm half asleep, I'm back on that battlefield; there's the flash. That day, September 22, 1917, is my Remembrance Day, not Armistice Day". After all these years Patch is still haunted by his experiences in The First World War. The article also mentions his meeting with Germany's oldest vet, 108 year old Charles Kuentz, when they went to Passchendaele last year.
