Post by 7zark7 »

Found this on Digg
"The Koreans Strike Back, with an absolutely FREE FPS with driveable vehicles, modern weaponry, and a built-in ranking system. The graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay is fast and chaotic."

havent seen any mention of it here, but was hopimg for a lil feed back.
Or maybe a thread full of people willing to DL it.

Heres a review of it:

Sweet..

Grabbing it now.. looks quality :)
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

Man, I've been playing this for 3 days solid now... and it's awesome. In gameplay terms it's the bastard child of BF1941 and Counterstrike. What, wait. Where are you running off to?

The beauty of the game is it's the good bits of both. medium scale urban levels like counterstrike, vehicles from BF. They've not put the aircraft in yet and I feel it'll lose some of its appeal when it does.

Client-side hit prediction is nice but ohsoexploitable. People lagging badly have a pseudo-advantage in that you'll always end up being killed by them even if you shot them 5 mins ago. However since it's a high-kill game individual annoyances like that don't really bother you unless you needlessly let them. Otherwise this game's great.

Anyone up for a game?

I'm downloading it right now. Does the game only have 2 maps or something? The filesize is only 184 meg.

4 maps
5 vehicles
5 player classes
Usually a few hundred people playing at any time, over 1000 at peaks

The game server appears to have gone down in the past few hours while I've been asleep. They might be running an upgrade or something right now.

The forum is alight with questions on it.

Hmm, if this is good enough, it may just replace Enemy Territory as my LAN game of choice with my cheap-ass buddies.

This is one of the big flaws atm, the whole system is centrally controlled.

When/if they push a standalone server (which I believe is in the pipeline) it would be suitable for that. Right now there's just a client and all games are spawned on their servers.

Which is in itself quite impressive. There were about 200 games going on last night and no performance issues.

Game plays so fucking well:

Cause it's a new engine, they've taken the approach of building physically simplistic structures, and can create really expansive llevels without worrying about how much is on-screen at once. I really dig that. Take the shot above.... in most games you'd never see that level of openness becuase there would be a need for walls to keep the game running smoothly. Not with this.
zOMG the skill level on the servers is pretty variable at the moment. My K:D ratio must be averaging 2.0-3.0
