Itriguing. So thats why the Marvel site suggest new readers to read the Ultimate comics.Jackal wrote:When Marvel started making movies the booted up a new universe that sort of reinvisions it's classic characters, this was the "Ultimate" universe. The Ultimate universe has nothing to do with the "normal" universe (called the 612 universe I believe), aside from the fact that it uses the same characters but in a different way.ToxicBug wrote:Can someone explain me the difference between the Amazing Spiderman and Ultimate Spiderman? Is there a "normal" Spiderman comic?
Also, what about X-Men, the Uncanny X-Men and the Astonishing X-Men?
Amazing Spiderman is part of the "normal" universe. So is X-Men, Uncanny X-Men, and Astonishing X-Men. All of the books in the "normal" universe share the same continuity whereas the Ultimate books have their own continuity.
I was extremely wary of the Ultimate line at first but some of it is great. Ultimate Spiderman is excellent, and the current arc of Ultimate Fantastic Four is great too. The Ultimates (the Ultimate version of the avengers) is a must-read for conspiracy lovers. However, I think Ultimate X-Men is for the the most part a ile of shit.
