Nintendo Revolution specs revealed.

Post by o'dium »

At long last.

Exactly what we were expecting. Not fast at all, in fact not even 128meg of ram.

But hey, its what the games do, not how they look. At least I will be able to afford this thing on launch and not have to sell half my helf of games:

It sold, but it was awful. Everybody was expecting mario 64 but sexier, and it turned out to be just a big pile of wank with a watergun. Sure it looked good, but it had the gameplay of a fridge.

I may actually get one. It would really own if it accepted gc games but I suppose that would have driven up the price.

Indeed. I wish I had heard this review before I bought it. Atleast it was cheap.

Of course it does. Jesus its the best Emulator on the planet.

ANY past nintendo game is downloadable, including gamecube games. But it has the option of loading the gamecube game from CD instead.

So you can play any previous nintendo game on it, either by downloading, or by using a GC/Rev CD.

Plus, some of the oldies will have extras. Some will just be better frame rate (Goldeneye is 60frames locked) and some will have extras (Mario Kart has extra tracks). All games, if they have Multiplayer, will now also be online. And possibly for free, too.

I'm actually looking more forward towards the Revolution than the 360 or PS3. I think this is the console I will own.

Any? Even the old NES games? What about gameboy too? If this is true, nintendo have my money already. There were so many classic nintendo games over the years (not to mention a shitload of kickass RPG's), and it'd be great to play them all on a single console.

Yes, any. Nes, GB, GBC, SNES, GBA, N64, GameCube, Revolution, all downloadable... We just arn't sure on "prices" if any.

You can also use your VIP points to pay for games. So at long last, those of you with thousands of them and no use will be able to get free games.

well they mentioned "nintendo's back catalog". so that might mean only nintendo first party games.

also, cube games downloaded onto flash memory? are you sure? seems a bit too much to me

A gamecube CD only holds 1.4gig or something like that. And the memory is expandable, so why not.

indeed. the flash mem is 512mb. even if it is expandable, the thing is also backwards compatible. expanding the flash mem is of very little use if you can only store 1 game on it innit

Whereas the other console developers are aiming for vertical growth it seems that Nintendo is looking to grow horizontally. It's an interesting strategy that might just work. Regardless, it will be interesting to see what happens.

There was a very interesting presentation from Reggie Fils-Aime (Sales & Marketing dude from Nintendo of America) a while ago. He explained how their strategy was about creating disruptive technology. It's too much to explain what it's all about but r3t posted links to it some time ago.

I thought it was pretty good. I finished it. I've never even bothered finishing metroid.
