You wrote just the other day about how pissing in the shower is normal...don't start about good taste.

Predator had some excellent special effects, but the movie itself was brilliant.

@julios

i can agree with that. most action/sci-fi flicks now are either re-hashed or all special "defects" and nothing else. i stay away from most of them.

OMG. I'm watching one of the Rambo movies right now (on Veronica for the Dutcheese) and it IS THE DEFINITIVE Quake movie - he is singlehandedly taking on an entire army base in the desert! He has even taken bullets and still running around and jumping walls - again the perfect doom I, II, quake I, II, III hero!

I can't see how anyone who enjoys Quake/Doom could hate Rambo.

Leader of the bad guys: "One man against an army of trained commandos? Who do you think this man is? God?"

Prisoner:"No. God would have mercy"

Hand me a beer and popcorn!

i should finally get round to watching a rambo movie - my mom never let me watch them - she heard horror stories of kids in the states dressing up as rambo and going on murdering sprees.

course she had no issue with predator, commando, and a slew of other mind altering films...

"mindless entertainment"

i fucking hate that phrase. not sure if anyone's actually used it in the thread, bit pissed and haven't read it properly, but i fucking hate that phrase.

very few films are intended to be mindless entertainment, they just end up that way after the serial cowardice and chinese whispers that passes for production on 95% of hollywood cinema has finished with them. ffs, it shouldn't be normal to go to the cinema pretty much knowing that the film you're about to see is vacuous, noodling pap.

but then again, it should never have become normal that going to the cinema would mean driving to what looks like a warehouse next to some motorway flyover. buildings designed almost entirely by cutting and pasting the worst bits from airports, casinos and fast-food restaurants. semi-automated cattle sheds, run by a skeleton crew of mongoloid teenagers with lasagne for skin.

Hmm, Charlize Theron has a bit of a "WTF am I doing in this" look about her.

Movie looks good, but they couldnt have picked a worse actor for the role. I think she is hot as anything, but she doesnt embody aeon flux at all. Its like asking gilligan to play bruce lee, she just doesnt fit. So much so that as much of a fan of the cartoon i was, i dont think im going to see the movie cause she kinda ruins it with her whole some good looks.

This is the type of girl that should have filed the role. Michelle Rodriguez. Look at the intensity in her eyes, Charlize Theron cant pull it off.

and yea, she can be real fine too.

Point is, you need a girl that can be tough to play this role, they failed horribly. Charlize Theron needs to stick to the cute roles she is good at, like in Trial and Error. To me her presence changes the movie from a hardcore, underground potentialy good sci fi flick, to a T&A driven rip off of a good cartoon series.

Weird, no ?

I agree. I'm not going to see it unless I talk to someone who tells me it surprised the shit out of them and blew them away.

Because to me it doesn't really look like Aeon Flux. TBH, from what I've caught on previews/trailers, I don't see much difference between this movie and, say, Catwoman, or Electra, or generic action moive "X."

That chick is too thick to play the main character in Aeon Flux.. Charlize Theron is built like the chick on the cartoon--tall and skinny--except they gave her short hair
