ffs, they're remaking The Producers

Saw a poster for it in the cinema today, what a fucking travesty.

It's a film version of Mel Brooks' Broadway revival of the show from a few years ago (2001ish?), starring his original revival cast. Mel Brooks produced the Broadway version a few years ago, and is producing this film version as well. Nathan Lane won a Tony award for his perfomance in the Broadway version, Matthew Broderick was nominated (but lost to Lane). The show itself also won a Tony for being awesome. I think this will be just fine--granted, the Zero Mostel/Gene Wilder original is a great, great film and will be tough to top, I don't think that this will be as much a travesty as a well-executed homage.

I saw the Broadway show when it came into town, it was really good, although different from the movie. I think the new movie will be good, but the old movie is one of the two funniest movies I have ever seen.

Personally I think the new movie is going to kick ass. I loved the original and I loved the theater version.

yeah, because it will be a remake by Mel Brooks himself, it won't be predigested by someone else. I'll definitely go see it.

Oh, I didn't know Mel Brooks was having anything to do with it, I just saw the poster in the cinema and assumed they were going to do what they did to The Ladykillers to it.

Cool.

Yeah, Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick were only in the first season of the Broadway show. But they were awesome, and they're the ones that are going to be in the film version. David Schwimmer lol fuck off you twat ror.

Matthew Broderick is the man, and probably the biggest reason i'll see the The Producers film.
