8th grader suspsended for REMOVING camera from bathroom

Post by +JuggerNaut+ »

ok, how ghey is this
A Jasper County mother says her 8th grade son found a video camera taping in the school bathroom this week. But now, he is the one in trouble.

Cindy Champion says her son, Mac Bedor, and a few of his friends took the camera out of the ceiling because they felt it violated their privacy. Champion says her son brought the camera home to show her that afternoon. She says when she contacted the Jasper County Comprehensive School, she found out high school principal, Howard Fore, put the camera there. She says Fore told her he put the camera in the boys' bathroom to catch students vandalizing. Champion says her son is now suspended for taking school property.

I'm against this country's culture of litigation, but I'd sue on that one

I find it amazing that so often I read about people being suspended from school. At the schools I've been to (one primary school, two high schools and one college), if you did something bad you'd probably get a warning from the principle or something, but not getting suspended (unless you did something really bad, like dealing drugs at school or something)

Schools shouldn't suspend students. They should teach them schooly things.

I agree. When you end up kicked out or drop out of high school you do fall into crime and are prey to the crimminal elements in your neighborhood.
But I blame the parents or parent due to poor choices in lifestyle that punish the children that result. These parents don't care if JR is out of school because they are absent themelves.
They need to share the burden that they place on the social system or just shut up about their "plight"

Suprising, they say it's legal to do as well..

But in his statement Brinson says, "The camera was not placed back in the restroom, and will not be placed back in the restroom."

Eyewitness News tried to contact the Ocmulgee Circuit District Attorney about the legality of placing hidden cameras in public school rest rooms. He covers that area. Eyewitness News was not able to get in touch with him. But, Eyewitness News did talk with Bibb County District Attorney, Howard Simms. He says cameras in public school bathrooms are legal because schools have more leeway on privacy issues.

A lot of people have one dimensional views on cameras in toilets – if you asked people if it was allowed then most of them would almost certainly say no. The heart of the matter is simple – if you have a solid reason then you can gain permission to install them.

I used to work in a bar that had trouble in the women’s toilets every Friday and Saturday: without fail, somebody would come in and block ever cubicle and succeed in taking the upstairs toilets out of commission. With staff only able to check every half hour or so the only solution was cameras, and the police were more than happy to allow it when they heard the reasoning.

The public didn’t like it though. The amount of people that kicked off when they came to the bar screaming about voyeurism was chronic – they only calmed down when you explained that the DVD the feed was recorded on would only be reviewed if damage occurred, and since staff checked the toilets on a regular basis there was only around 20 minutes of film to fast forward through.

I’m not quite sure why a school would require them, but perhaps the idea behind it is along the same lines. I'm not sure about the difference in stance on the issue though - I'm talking from a UK perspective.

in canada, other than banks and stores, if you want to place cameras somewhere you need to let people know the cameras are there.

as a parent, having someone secretly place a camera in the kids bathroom leaves to many scenarios open for my liking.

holy fuck, that system is so full of holes whats the point? how hard would it be to simply take of your chipped necklace and give it to your buddy?

what the fuck is going on with western society in general? our founding fathers would be flipping in their graves.

Yep, it is 100% ridiculous.

And once these kids get to voting age, government monitoring will be accepted as second nature.
