Stereo

Post by Kills On Site »

Well my parents stereo has finally gotten so bad you can't get through a single song without errors, so they want a new one for Christmas. I'm looking for something simple, the only thing it has to do is play CDs and have the abilty to have speakers with the bare with slide into a clip, I'm sure it has a name, but I do not know it. Also the floor is not the best so a good anti-skip is also needed, but what doesn't have one these days. The speakers are still very good and they only play CDs, maybe a tape on it. Anyone got any suggestions as to what manufactures make the best and at not too steep of a price.

I doubt it...not new. Ebay might have something, but depending on the price of the original one the speakers might not be worth much as it is, and a whole new system would probably be worth it...

No sites seem to say if these systems that I am looking at have spring terminals or not. I'll prolly goto Radio Shack sometime soon and look around.

are the speaker wire ends BARE wire or do they have a spade terminal or something similar? how big are they? brand?

they sound like pretty avg speakers and easily replaceable with a new stereo. save you alot of trouble finding something sans a set of speakers unless you start buying components which raise the $ factor.

By stereo do you mean a amp and a CD player, or a shitty boombox that has the amp and speakers included?

Cuz I thought most people just had a CD player and a seperate amp to power the speakers. Or is that too pricey?

The speakers are an old set of Klipsch. I'm sure new speakers would be smaller and sound better, but the reason the set-up works is because the CD player is off to the side and the speakers are in a more central location, with the wires put in places that I do not feel like getting them out of or putting new wires in. The wires aren't the greatest, 16 gauge I believe, bare ends that fit into the spring clips of the current CD player.

I mean a CD player and amp, something that I can plug the speakers right into.

if your budget is $200 or so, you can find a cheap 5.1 receiver on sale for a tick over $100 and any cd player will work with it.
