I havent been much of an effects person, but have the urge to get that crisp, singing overdrive tone in my guitars. The tone I'm driving for is the one Gilmour uses in much of the Pink Floyd stuff, particularly in The Division Bell album. I've got myself a couple of EMG pickups on a guitar that's routed through a Fender Deluxe amp...nothing special, but am wondering what the best route to take would be in terms of vendors and types of effects? I dont want a harsh or "dirty" overdrive, but I want it bright and singing.
If you can play the solos in the songs "What do you want from me" and "Coming back to life" from Pink Floyd's "The Division Bell" and make them sound rich, bright, and crisp like they are on the CD with those tonal qualities by just plugging into a fender amp wihtout any extra effects then you record it and post it here. Only then will I not think you're full of shit.

I'm looking at the TS9DX, which has some extra features over the TS9 and isnt that much more. I think I'll have to try it out at a guitar store first though. I wish I knew someone with a shitload of effects I could try out and get a feel for. As it is my setup is rather bland, with only the amp's features and a cry-baby wah. I'm a minimalist when it comes to these things, but every now and then some added color is nice.
