Oh shit...

Post by bitWISE »

My grandpa just had a heart attack. Grandma left for a few hours and when she came back she found him out in the yard. I'm not sure what's going on besides that :tear:

That's hard man. Is he in good shape for the most part? How long was he out in the cold?

Hope everything turns out okay with him. :icon14:

Not sure how long he was out. I'm about to drive back home.

He stays physical but he has been eating poorly (but taking medicine) with diabetes for as long as I can remember. He's 61 so he isn't really old but not too young either.

Well he passed before I got there.

He's had a history of heart trouble but there is a lot more to the story. Apparently, the people renting my grandparent's second home have had some domestic disputes and the guy is a real asshole. Today, the guy smashed in his wife's car windows, bit her, and was choking her. My grandpa showed up with a gun and told him to get off and sit down because the police were coming. The police arrest the guy at gun-point on the side of the road and then they came over to take statements. Well in the middle of giving his statement he just started having a heart attack. The officers started doing CPR and the squad came but he was pretty much DOA.

The guy is in jail awaiting a bail hearing. One of the officer's stopped by just an hour ago and filled us in. The prosecutor is trying to charge the dude with something like negligent homicide and they already have him for felonious assualt on his wife.

So my grandpa may have saved her and her son's lives today. I suppose it's better than going out while tending to the lawn.

RIP

I'm really sorry to hear it, Bit.

But your grandfather died while committing a noble act and looking out for his fellow man, and there aren't many people at all who can say that. Someday your family will be repaid in kind, I am sure.

Sorry for your loss, and RIP. :icon14:

Sad to hear. My Dad is almost the same age and has diabetes too

That tenant should be charged with causing the death of your Dad.

the tenant didn't "cause the death of his dad" . First off, it was his grandfather, and secondly you can't actively give someone a heart attack.
MY condolences to Bit, but the heart attack would've likely happened one way or the other.

Let's see, a 61 year old man with a bum ticker trying to defend a woman and child against a fit, adult male psycho. Yeah, I'd draw down on the fucker, too.

Sorry for your loss Bit.
