Any of you americans (or import fiends) got this? I'm getting noticable load times when entering buildings. queing for a cutscene, and even opening the menu (!).
I'm hoping its just my copy that is the problem, cos it seems like a really nice game otherwise.

Awesome game. 34 hours into...loving it.
Load times eh? I think there are some.
Entering buildings - aprox. 3 seconds
Entering Towns/Worldmap - aprox. 5-7 seconds
Cutscene - aprox 3-5 seconds
Opening menu - 1 second
Not out of the ordinary IMO for console games. Not sure what kind of games you play on the system that don't. Shadow of the Colossus perhaps?!
EDIT: btw, I've heard reports on GameFAQs of excessive loading times (7 seconds or something) for just entering buildings. Perhaps the PS2 is getting old? Did you buy the game?
The load times for leaving battles, entering the menu and watching cutscenes weren't like that in the Japanese version.
The US version has longer load times at times because
1) The music is no longer synthesized and loaded into memory, but orchestrated and streamed from the disk
2) The game has voice acting (see cutscenes) The Japanese version did not.
Trade off is worth it though IMO. And you don't notice the loading times after a while anymore anyway.
It doesn't bother me a whole lot though.

Yep, it takes about 7 seconds entering/leaving buildings in towns/cities. It just spoils the flow of things, and i've played a LOT of PS1 RPG's, and i've never seen load times take so long. I wonder if I disabled music, would it load faster? But then of course, i'd be missing out on the score, which sounds fantastic so far....

It has lotsa puff-puff and va-va-VOOM though. The game is just overflowing with sexual messages it's not even funny.Ezekiel wrote:If it doesn't have Hojo in it I don't want to know! :icon33:
And sometimes, it's downright weird:
Morrie: "You don't know the depths of your own passion until you've played with yourself...."
btw, 7 second load times for just entering/leaving buildings is not normal I don't think. It should be 3 seconds or so.
Yes. Much much much better than the 7th game though.dzjepp wrote:This game supposedly comes with a demo of ff xii. Me wants!
