I think the rest of our country needs to start doing whatever the heck Alberta is doing :p

What did the cheque turn out to? About 4 bills IIRC?

Alberta has two things going for it, it's economy and adequate fiscal policy (obviously somewhat related). I would have rather seen that money go to reduce taxes even further, rather than have a direct pay out to the people.

I'll probably invest mine or save it :icon26:

I don't really want anything at the moment, so it's best to let it grow or keep it for a rainy day.

My wife figures that our 1 year old will be getting some of the cash as well so we will probably put some on my student loan, and assorted other boring real life shit, but a new vid card is definitly on the way come january.

The money we get is only a fraction of our total surplus ( 1.4 billion out of 5.9 ). Money's being dumped into roads, citys, healthcare ( which is suprizing comeing from old ralphy ), and of course, tax cuts.

In 1985 as I was on my way to BC I stopped in Calgary. That was at the time almost a ghost town. I noticed 20 stories buildings just vacant. It was a weird weird scening.
I don’t know how they reanimated it but I would vote him as Prime Minister

Did anyone catch King Ralph's take on the federal election? For all his faults, at least the drunkard can speak truth once in a while.

yeah he's right. harper is a fucking moron. i can't believe he wants to force an election through the holidays. idiot. the liberals already said they would call an election in feb. so wtf?

i could have forced myself to vote for mckay if he was pc leader but i don't know what the problem was there. you can tell he's %100 canuck and would treat all canadians the same.

i feel i just don't know where harper stands. plus he's an arrogant cunt.

so yeah, another liberal minority until harper is toast.

Aye, another one for the liberals. Which isn't too bad since they aren't too fiscally liberal.

Too bad the conservatives consolidated into one party, what with the regressive fucks among the fiscal responsibility folks.

All good. Does Alberta have some sort of public private arrangement going on? I know they'd like to privatize further but the federal government won't let them.

WHOA

Is that a hurrah for Conservative governments I'm hearing from you, or do you just admire their "fuck everyone but the family lets be the second hump of the Oil Cartel camel" 'Arab'-esque wealthstyle ??

I'm actually liking Chavez these days more than those Albertans. :icon25:

You're an odd one for sure. Fiscal policy more in line with the NDP, yet a fan of the Conservative party.

I'm usually not a fan of the Liberals but they'll get my vote simply because of the disgust I feel for the other parties. They're pulling this posturing bullshit over the holidays and wasting a ton of our tax money for what will amount to another Liberal government anyways. Instead of carollers this year we'll get political bullshit on every corner...just great :icon8:

semi-private. You can either go to a public hospital and wait in the ER for 4-6 hrs. Or go to another one, pay out of your pocket and get instant service ( for the rich ).

Honistly, i don't have a problem with a 2-tier healthcare system, if you can afford the big bill to get served first, then by all means. I don't think this extends out to becoming first in line for transpants tho.

Say what? Did that two tier health care kick in? I thought that was still a ways away...
