Xbox 360 crashing? Try this tip!

Post by +JuggerNaut+ »

My 360 was crashing a lot (like once every 20 minutes). So I took the power supply off the ground and suspended it in the air with some string. I have been playing for about 3 hours straight and no crashes so far!

although this is version 1.1 of the "suspended powerbrick", :olo:

Boy, that's a nice testing & QA department they've got going on at Microsoft. They couldn't catch overheating power supplies, when the console is being used exactly as it was intended? :icon27:

They probably didn't put the time into testing it. After all, they were just so anxious to get it out the door as soon as possible

Microsoft Xbox costs $525 to make

And sells for $399. Shome mishtake, shorely

By Esther Tigre: Thursday 24 November 2005, 09:54
US ANALYST firm iSuppli said it had ripped apart an Xbox 360 to find out just how much the components cost.

The triple core IBM CPU used in the Xbox runs at 3.2GHz, the lads reckon. This CPU costs $106 and that represents 20.2 per cent of the bill of materials (BOM) for the console.

Add in the other integrated circuits and the BOM is a staggering $340 per console.

ATI's graphics chip costs $141 including embedded memory from NEC, a Japanese company.

Add in the DVD drive to the Xbox Premium, the RF board, the wireless controller, the cable, the literature and the packaging and the total BOM is $525.

Isuppli didn't say how much the power cord cost.

Microsoft is selling the unit for $399. Shorely shome mishtake.

1) you cant give an exact number for those things...who knows what kinds of deals MS gets on parts.

2) AFAIK the xbox360 does cost more to make than what the price is...but its not a mistake. most consoles are sold at a loss.
