I have a really, really bad feeling that this IS NOT goeing to be the same for the Playstation 3. Right now we have the bigest fracking retail holiday comming up. Some dad's are willing to spend $1000+ on a next generation system for their sons.
When PS3 comes out who's gonna want one? The next generation is allready here. And why would they want it so bad? Oh, lets buy it for martch break presents.... no fucking way. No lineup, no hipe, no dad's with one grand burning holes in their pockets. No year end bonuses.

Hmm. I'll reserve some judgement on that issue, but I think sony is in a strong position if they dont hype their product, and instead drop in with a very solid console and good release lineup. It wont matter what season it comes in.

I've never understood this whole standing in line to be the first to have something thing. I mean, i can sort of imagine it woth concert tickets for your favourite band that are about to run out, but with stuff like this it's fucking ridiculous.

Well, the particular thing about the Xbox360 is that all the stores had limited suplies.
Meaning that if you did not wait in the line early in the morning or midnight, you will not get an Xbox for the thanks giving.

I tried to find a 360 yesterday...to sell on Ebay. Didn't find one. I'll try it with the PS3, again to sell. Then I'll buy a Revolution to keep for myself. I really think Nintendo is the only one with the right idea this generation.
It may not be technically superior, but fortunately they seem to care about more than that. Like gameplay, which I find too often lacks, at least with many XBox games. I've got my PC for shiny graphics.

Thing is, SONY has already stated that dont expect the PS3 to be any where near as cheap as the 360. Its just not aimed at that "market". They would rather make money than please, and have stated on several offical talks and shows that a £500 price tag is looking VERY likely at LEAST.
TBH, the PS3 doesn't interest me at this point. Its ugly, has a horrid controller which i could never see myself finding nice, and hasn't produced anything decent looking yet. Wow, rubber duckies with nice water. Show me that in a real time presentation in a real time game world enviroment where anything can happen, and NOT in a closed off bathroom where frame rate can be manipulated, and maybe i'll be impressed.
Its all fucking hype with sony, always has been, always will be. I cant believe how many kids think the PSP "plays DVD's and is more powerful than the PS2". They think this because of the Offical Playstation mag, always spouting off bullshit. It plays UMD's, which are bad quality conversions of DVD's with no special features for double the price. Oh, and its a PSOne with filtering. FUCKING FACT. You show me one game that looks anywhere near as good as the PS2. Oh yeah, GTA? I dont think so, play it and see the damn pop up. If you get a chance from the battery dieing... Anyways what i mean is that SONY hype the fuck about everything and lie through their teeth to get a sale. Its all about the $$ to them, not what kids want.
Of course, none of this fucking matters a dime because all SONY have to do is get square to re-release Final Fantasy VII with new graphics on the PS3 and they have my money. Even with that bastard boomerang controller. :icon32:

Nintendo is the ONLY company that MAKES money on its consoles every time it sells one. SONY and Microsoft LOSE money on every sale. Not bad, when you think just how damn powerful the CUBE is. Its a VERY, VERY under hyped machine, with amazing power. Its only a fraction slower than the xbox, and the main reason its not up there is the ram (48meg, compared to 64meg in the xbox and 32meg in the PS2).
They have less games because of the "Nintendo seal of approval" which means every game MUST have a certain quality to pass. Thats why there arn't so many games on the Cube, but 90% of them are pure class. Compare that to the PS2, which has like 20 times more games, but also 20 times the tripe.
The Revolution may disapoint, but it may also piss over everybody else. I change my mind all the time about that damn controller, but hey as long as they release an old school pad in the box as well, they can try what they like.

nonono. Nintendo is losing money. Sony and MS sell their consoles "at a loss" but that doesn't mean they lose money on the bottom line. Quite the opposite in fact.
Yeah, their consoles might of always been cheap, but they are always last in sales. So they end up jacking the price of individual games up. I remember a friend of mine bought that star-wars game that launched with the n64 for close to $100 from funcoland. Not kidding lolz. Well his mom bought it for him.
Sure, they make money on the game/dev licensing and such, which is what gives them profits, but they still have a net loss on the consoles themselves.
BTW, does MS get royalties for every copy of every game that is sold or something? Just curious. I don't think that they do, but it's hard to imagine them making much of a profit just from licensing the technology.
