BF2 Special Forces
Our server is up and running the SF mod.
70.86.55.19
Feel free to drop on by and play a bit.
I must say, this is a great expansion to an already great game.
At 25000+ points I was able to grab the 4 latest weapon unlocks available for the expansion. The addition of the grappling hook and zipline are awesome. The nightvision and gas mask are cool too. The flash bang and tear gas also have a really unsettling affect on you when you're hit with them.
All in all a definite improvement and further encouragement to play as a team.
Now get in there and get some frags.

BF2 is different from all of them. In BF2 you play for rank and for new weapons. Without the expansion you don't get them. That's why BF2 and SF are more like EverQuest or WOW in their motivation for future game play.
I also believe BF1942 Desert combat mod and BF Vietnam were just as or even more popular than BF1942.

rofl you guys are promoting the bf2:sf expansion?
they think they can throw out a broken game, throw out 3 lazy patches that barely fix anything, and then move on to other expansions and installments to take more of your money.
Well i say hell no to this and even BF3. Us gamers have to send the message NOW that we aint going to fall for this or its going to get worse and more widespread in the PC gaming market.

I agree with you. Though the 1.03 patch actually addressed most of my issues with the initial release.stocktroll wrote:rofl you guys are promoting the bf2:sf expansion?

Unfortunately, it doesn't matter if we don't buy it. EA has thousands of other people who will. Just like how millions of people bought The Sims and the seven expansion packs.
fix what? Where you unable to play the game or just upset they didnt tweak every aspect to your liking?stocktroll wrote:rofl you guys are promoting the bf2:sf expansion?

The game ran fine for me, I've been playing it and having fun since it came out. I also bought the expansion.
The new maps are nice, I played on a map last night that was all ground, no arty on the map, just like 7 spawn points on the carrier and 2 on the coast. I had a blast chucking gas in a room going in and wasting everyone with the pkm.
You spawn on an aircraft carrier and have no aircraft? ...shaft wrote:fix what? Where you unable to play the game or just upset they didnt tweak every aspect to your liking?stocktroll wrote:rofl you guys are promoting the bf2:sf expansion?

Yeah he can't be more wrong than 100% of his statement.Ryoki wrote:Aww, there goes gramps argument.
You don't need expansions to get weapons, nor did they need to make SF an expansion to give us weapons because of our rank in BF2. They could just give us new weapons in a standalone game.
Also Vietnam was a dog.
BF : 4 million in sales
BF/V: 1.3 million (of which 700,000 were suckers sales in the first 2 weeks before the word got out how bad it was)
BF2 : 2+ million (in onlly the first few months of sales
DC was never sold, it was put together by the community ,despite the usual roadblocks the companies put up to prevent anyone from having the tools to make anything for their games and threaten their expansion revenues.
The result is buggy games that would be alot better if they took the time to perfect them and listened to the community instead of moving their developers into making the next money making expansion

There are planes on the deck but they are mostly for cover you cant get in them. There are also a couple choppers on the deck that you can get in and fly. Like I said its an 'infantry map'. Most of the fighting is done on the deck or below...a plane would be pretty useless.
BFV was bad? :icon27: I played the game for over a year, no trouble finding full servers. Tons of people were playing it.Canidae wrote: Yeah he can't be more wrong than 100% of his statement.

I see what you're saying now.shaft wrote:Psyche911 wrote:You spawn on an aircraft carrier and have no aircraft? ...shaft wrote: fix what? Where you unable to play the game or just upset they didnt tweak every aspect to your liking?

They give you smaller levels, and a couple new weapons. And like I said, with the same structure models. Sounds like it's worth $30 to me. Yep.
[/sarcasm]
On another note. I upgraded to 2GB of RAM. The shiny OCZ 1GBx2 set, Platinum or whatever they call it. Windows starts up faster, things seem a little more responsive, surprisingly. I haven't noticed much difference in BF2 as my framerate is usually low enough I don't notice if it "jerks" like some people said if you have "only" 1GB of RAM. But when I quit it doesn't sit there loading everything back of the hard disk like before.
After selling my old RAM and the mail in rebate, the upgrade will only have cost me $40. :icon25:
Don't by it then. Considering how much you spend on your pc in the first place and all the rest of the games that you never play...$30 is a pretty small amount for more hours of fun. 8 new maps? 6 new armys? 5 new weapons, numerous new vehicals, not to mention the added equation of teargas flashbangs, nightvision, grappling hooks and ziplines. Its somthing new, and that is worth $30 to me. Well $24, I had $6 in gift certs at BB.
What makes it like crack is a whole line of new medals, badges, and ribbons to aquire.
