right got 2 pc's

PC 1 broke during mid game

i take the graphics card from PC 1 and plum it into PC 2, still no go... i reset the bios jumpers on PC 1 and insert my old nvidia tnt2 card in, worked, tried the broke card again and couldnt get it working again, tried plugging nvidia card back in old PC 2 and still no go

(all i get is the PC starting up and nothing displaying on the monitor)

now, lend a card from memph (cheers memph :) ) and plug it in, still no go, reset the jumpers again and it worked fine

plugged broke card into brothers PC and the smell is fucked up, this is when i realise that the card might be fucking up the PC's, but his PC still worked when we put his card back in

you all agree that its the card and it should be thrown away before it causes any more greef ? (still cant PC2 to boot up :( )

It would be quite rare if you insert a graphics card correctly into a system it would mess it up badly.

But if I was you i'd bin it.

thats what i thought but dont know what else it could be

still cant get pc 2 to boot though, this pc was left under the stairs for god knows how long but it used to work

thinking back on it i shouldve checked to see if it worked before i started using it as a test monkey

and how did reseting the jumpers make a diff ? i thought that just restored bios to factory settings but no settings where changed ?

If your PC is starting up but nothing is displaying at all on the monitor then there's a pretty good chance your vid card is effed. Especially since you tried it in several diff comps.

take a look at the video card, remove the fan (assuming it has a fan) look under the heatsink and see if it looks scorched.

remove the fan, connect it to something else and check the fan is actually working.

my old gf4 fucked up, because the fan was not working - so it over heated and burnt the motherfucker.

aye my gf4 done the same thing

the fan works fine, no scorch marks underneath but i notcied at the rear of the card last night, that one of the tiny tiny tiny chips has a tiny tiny tiny burn mark on it

and yea, guessing the AGP port has thrown a wobbly in pc2, gunna try n find a PCI card form somewhere
