I've heard of people filling in the cracks with things, like candle wax, but I've never tried anything like that so it might just be an old geeks' tale.

I have one, worth its weight in gold.
Is it worth investing for this one disc?

I use Windex to clean my CD's and it seems to work well.

I bought a used copy of FF7 years back, and when I got to the 3rd disc and it didn't load, I was pissed! Never again will I buy any games used.

so i rub the paste all over the CD??!

wtf...
Avoid home remedies that suggest using toothpaste. Toothpaste is a mild abrasive and acts as a light sandpaper. While it may sometimes buff out scratches, more often it will cause additional scratches.

Up to now it worked for me on 3 scratched CDs... ok, you won't cure very deep scratches. Be patient , polish with a soft cloth and very light pressure.

Yea, I won't buy used games anymore unless it's from a local shop where I can take them back if they're scratched.

that only worked because of residue on the CD, not because it "cured" a scratch/scratches.

[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.
