Text-to-speech

Post by bitWISE »

Anyone know of any downloadable voices that sound natural? I'm using one called Sample TTS Voice right now and although it's much better than Microsoft Sam, there is still some room for improvement. I installed a Kenwood Keg in my car (10gb MP3 hard-drive) and it generates voice recordings of the titles of your playlists. While this is a kickass feature...Steven Hawking got pretty annoying really fast.

i have VST (software synth) that is supposed to do this and actually sing - its shit though - resyything a voice and making it sound natural is very bastard hard (any modelling of a natural timbre is inhernetly difficult for the reasons that make a timbre sound natural)

Yeah I imagine it would be pretty hard. I like the TTS voice but surely there is some nerd who has created a TTS quality voice that sounds like some kind of porn star

Is that the Leon thing? It looked pretty interesting, but I knew it'd be shit so didn't bother installing :)

nah - its called Cantor - its a mad concept - you map phonemes onto tones and set velocity and expression modulations etc - but tbh even the factory supplied tutorials fucking sound a bit mad

it kind of works for idm / avant garde stuff as you may be going for a fucked antares auto tuned sound - but its not what they sell it as (every singer in a box)

Damn. It turns out the TTS voice doesn't integrate well with the Music software because all the playlists are called "blah" or "blah blah blah" :olo:
