how do you spell it properly? the drug they gave women in the 80s and it fucked up loads of children and made their limbs small.

what was the disease called that resulted from it?

It cause malformations of all types.
People woudn't die of it most of the time but they have all physicals body ''mutations'' almost no arms or legs or shorter then normal. Missing fingers and toes. You don't want to have a child like that.

I don't think it's been banned. Or, at least, it's now being used in clinical trials as a treatment for ovarian cancer. I doubt people still use it while pregnant, though.

it was only one of the optical isomers of the drug that caused the problem (the molecule comes in two mirror images and only one of them was the culprit)

afaik, the other mirror image is safe & effective, but not sure.
