It's definitely absorbing.
I'm not sure that pretty graphics improve the core game though.
At it's heart, it's just an exercise in making the right choices.
Still, it is VERY compelling.
That "Just one more turn..." gameplay is still there.

It doesn't feel very personal though, if you know what I mean, and it doesn't matter who you choose as your starting civilization, all cities end up feeling very generic.

So to sum up, not decided yet.

I'm sure as I play more, hidden depths will be revealed as with previous Civ games, but I'm not sure I have the patience.

its pretty good. it does matter what civ you pick, also what leader. its subtle unless you know how to exploit it (like in civ3). its no use trying to get a military victory with a spiritual & religious civ for instance (at least not as much as doing the same with a brutal and industrious civ).

the religion part i dont care much for, i mean its ok and a nice addition but i couldve done without it. the Civic system over the Government system is quite nice though, and makes for nearly unlimited governing possibilities
