Stress

i just tried to call this guy who's not in the office again because apparently he's 'too stressed' and the doctor says he can't work. in my book, that means he's either queer, lazy or both.

anyone here ever signed off work for it? how did being stressed affect you so badly that you couldn't work? were you really 'stressed', or did you just see an opportunity for some paid leave and weren't concerned by your co-workers thinking you're a pansy?

in the past i never squated at a place of employmentt, and if i didnt like it or agree , i dint cry , i got the fuck out.

I know people who have suffered from depression/stress and they havnt left there bed for weeks. Its taken alot to get them up and going again.
But then i know there are people who just fake it and go out and all sorts but turn to a wreck when they go to the doctors.

Everybody is stressed, it's just some people are retarded about it. You need to take situations that are challenging (stressors) and then react to them in a way that creates personal growth (eustress) instead of reacting negatively to them (distress). Bathic sporth pthychology~~

my dad was ordered by his doctor to quit his business because of stress
he had been working under severe stress (and ignored it

) for the last few years. one day he just cracked and he couldnt even read the recipe for spaghetti without breaking a sweat and popping vains

so i guess it really is harmful

I started to get major bad headaches and was (and still am) on medication. There were original suspecions of a brain hemorrhage, but turned out clear. There was no offical diagnosis but most people reckoned it was stress. So my doctor ordered me not to go on a computer for three days.

So I guess its quite easy to get off work for stress

Never been actually stressed, but i left one job in a bad bad way and decided 'fuck these cunts' and called in 'stressed'. They sent a docter to my house to verify that i wasn't taking the piss (which i was) so they could screw with me some more, but unfortunately for them the docter said 'Ah, yes, you're obviously totally stressed. I advise two weeks of rest, and if after that you still have problems, call me and i'll say you're stressed again'. Which i didn't, because by that time my contract had expired.

At my current job one colleague after the other is becoming totally overworked and sick, and i know they're not faking it one bit. And yeah, it's only because they care too much.
