Bought a half tidy digicam

So i managed to buy a half tidy digicam after wanting one for AGES.
Got me a Canon EOS 350D (EF-S 18-55), a 1 gig mem stick and
a carry case for £600. All i need now is some good sites for
Photography and a few tips about lens’s, filters and accessories
that i should invest in.

Anyone got any experience with this Camera? Anything i should
know about them? I know it aint the worlds best camera but for
me to learn with i think its more than adequate

I had enough for my car insurance i just wanted to pay my credit card off and i sold a few bits and bobs that i didnt use much!
I have £40 on my credit card now so happy days

Oh and for starters, read the manual as many times as necessary until you understand what every function is for and how the camera works. Try to learn not to use the preset shooting functions, only use P, Tv, Av or M, whichever you prefer. I generally shoot on Av. Never set the white balance to AWB unless you're not sure what sort of light is around you. Outdoors always set it to what it really corresponds. If its sunny set it to sun. If its overcast set it to cloud. If you're outdoors in the shade, set it to shade. Correct white balance is extremely important.

You've bought and EF-S 18-55mm, its a crappy lens, but its focal range is great for a beginner to have a lot of fun. Try shooting at different focal lengths and shoot as much as possible using different settings. Don't stay at home all the time, make sure you go outside to take pics.

Before you buy any other lenses or any sort of accessories, either ask about it on iphotoforum or ask me.
