Pics of the desk I built (mostly).

Post by FragaGeddon »

I started off with a desk from my brother. Extended the back by 8".

The back portion houses the computer parts, router, modem, & also has electrical outlets.

Electrical Plugs:

First computer:

Mounted to the back:

Two computers:

Then I built a hutch for it.

Before being painted:

Then after some paint:

With a few added components:

Bravo sir.
[size=75][i]I once had a glass of milk.

It curdled, and then I couldn't drink it. So I mixed it with some water, and it was alright again.

I am now sick.

The first pic is actually the back of the desk. I made a trap door that attaches where the cutout is to allow easy access.
The hutch has 4 x 20 unit cd holders.

I fucked up one part. If you look on the left side above the cd holders I only have holes on one side for adjustable shelving.
I'll have to figure out a way of drilling the holes.

So that's just paint?

From the pictures it looks like formica.

The original desk most likely had a formica finish. If it did, how does it look at the joints where the two different textures meet?

Good job though. Makes me want to go buy some wood and build something. :icon14:

A Dremel is what you want.

The main part of the desk got painted.
Just applied primer and painted it.
If you scrape it, the paint comes off easy, but I have extra paint for touchups if needed.

Just above the left monitor is a light switch.

And above the right one is the two switches to turn on the PC's.

PC's usually get moved and bumped around. That desk isn't going anywhere.

Cables and shit usually move around reguardless if the computer moves.. i would make a brace to screw the cards into so they are not being held up by there weakest point. ya know?

videocards especally now are getting extremly Heavy due to there HSF's..

thats all i'm getting at.

I'll probably anchor them in eventually. I'll probably just run a strip of metal from the top and drill a hole in it to secure the card.

looks nice. I like the whole integrated desk/pc case shit :)

oh also, in response to Loschunk, wouldn't this be better overall for air circulation if the only active cooling is forced air convection?

I'm going to buy one of those small dirt devil vacuums with a hose attachment on it.
This way I can clean it once in awhile and also clean the dust that collects around my room.

The space where the power supply unit is, I might actually cut holes near the bottom in behind the drawers and mount case fans in there to draw in cool air.

The funny thing is that I have this Sonata case that comes with this screen to keep out the dust, but yet the drill there name in the side with a bunch of holes that says ANTEC.

i was considering taking of taking two of my drawers from ym desk, boxing them in, and making it a computer case, with water cooling installed/incorperated into it.
