you coffee loving motherbitches
i'm getting a bit tired of the shit selection or overpriced whole bean coffee at the local stores... any good sources on the net that come highly recomended?
google seems to like "coffee bean direct" ... and their prices don't look to bad... but in the world of inter-shopping i'm always interested in recomendations.
(pre-roasted please, i'm not that hardcore)

I've been ordering from http://www.germandeli.com. I usually order in bulk due to the shipping costs. Some of my favorites are...
Note: These coffees are slightly stronger than coffee purchases in the USA. You may break a sweat during your firs few pots.
Tchibo Rich Roast Mocha Ultra fine ground
Slight mocha aftertaste a smooth non bitter coffee that you can double the blend and still not have it taste like crap.
Tchibo Exclusive Ultra fine ground
This is the coffee that got me hooked on Tchibo, great smooth taste
Jacobs Coffee Whole bean and ground
Jacobs Kroenung
Slightly more expensive, but worth the cost, a very tasty coffee.

fuck u...Jackal wrote:You know that one of the most expensive coffees is one that actually comes from monkey crap (at least I think it's a monkey)?
The monkey eats the coffee beans and partially processes it in its digestive system, the excrement is then collected, refined, and sold as coffee. Very expensive stuff.
Caribou Coffee is great in person but I've never tried brewing their beans.

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/k/kopiluwak.htmSummary of eRumor:
Kopi Luwak is a rare and gourmet coffee from Indonesia that is made from beans passed through the digestive system of monkeys.
bullet The Truth:
Kopi Luwak does exist, is very expensive, and is made from coffee beans passed through the digestive system of an Indonesian animal, but it's more like a cat than a monkey. According to a feature article by the Manila Coffee House, which sells the stuff, the people who harvest the digested beans don't really have to pick through cat litter to get it. The animal processes the beans and excretes them whole, unscratched, and without dung.
The animal is a palm civet, a dark brown tree-dwelling cat-like creature found throughout Southeast Asia. The scientific name is paradoxurus hermaphroditus.
According to the Manila Coffee House, the palm civet just happens to like to ingest the ripest and reddest coffee beans, which also happen to be the ones best for brewing. The cat eats the outer covering of the beans in the same way that is accomplished by de-pulping machines. Something happens to the beans in the journey through the cat's intestines that gives it a flavor that is celebrated by coffee drinkers.
At this point, most of the beans are purchased by Japanese buyers.
Actually we talked about this at lunch at work today. A collegue of mine had heard that a small coffeshop down the street had recieved a batch of this stuff, so we went there to buy a cup of shit-coffee, but apparently they were still test-roasting it (the guy told us that they had to do a lot of test roasting to get the perfect taste, because it would be a shame if they would ruin the entire batch by roasting it too much or too little, especially since it's fucking expensive).

I try that... whenever i'm up at the crack of dawn on a saturday, the farmer's market is open and has a few really good coffees on hand.R00k wrote:I buy all mine locally.
yeah, i've had that... but its not worth the ~$7/lb they want to charge in the stores.Nightshade wrote:For a fairly easily obtained coffee, I go for Millstone Foglifter. Damn good stuff, and it's like liquid crack. :icon14: :icon28:
I don't care where my coffee comes from (as long as its not some tree-cat's ass) or who died making it. So long as its cheap and tastey.Massive Quasars wrote: Don't let this be a deal breaker Watson... or even a consideration at all.
hmm... never had any of those german coffees...Giraffe }{unter wrote:I've been ordering from http://www.germandeli.com. I usually order in bulk due to the shipping costs. Some of my favorites are...
